Grooming

Grooming is an important and ongoing part of your dog’s care. Some dogs require daily attention, while other breeds require much less time and frequency. Regular grooming is important to maintain the health, comfort, and the appeal of your dog. Cat grooming can be a great option for cats who struggle to groom themselves, or just require a little extra maintenance.

As well as the benefit of general cleanliness, regular grooming offers the opportunity to monitor for conditions such as abrasions, swelling, skin ailments, etc., or other signs of ailments your pet may be suffering from.

For health and safety reasons, and to present a safe and comfortable environment for your pet, we require pet vaccinations to be up to date. Any unvaccinated animal put him/herself, and perhaps others, at risk. The owner must advise us of any allergies or pre-existing conditions, whether they be medical, physical, or behavioral. Pet City Canada reserves the right to use a muzzle on your pet for safety reasons.

Dog grooming and cat grooming rates may vary and are determined by breed, size, pet’s temperament and behavior, and the time it takes to groom your pet.

Pet Wash

  • You Wash – A self-service option where the owner has availability to all of the tools and equipment necessary to wash their own pet.
  • We Wash  – Includes a shampoo bath, conditioner rinse, brush, and blow dry by a member of our staff.

Our bath salon offers cage free blow dry stations, as part of the dog wash package, where you can brush and blow dry your pet.  The variable speed dryers generate warm air (no heat element) to dramatically reduce drying time compared to simply towel drying.

Daycare

A place for dogs to run, play, socialize, and generally have FUN in a safe and caring environment. We are centrally located at 113 – 13th Street North in Lethbridge, Alberta. We boast over half an acre of outdoor space with toys, pools, and playground equipment for your dog to enjoy while meeting new friends.

If weather dictates, our guests can enjoy the indoor play areas, or simply relax in air conditioned comfort. On those especially cold days, perhaps curl up by the fireplace for story time, or on your favorite pillow. We welcome you to check out our facility at any time during business hours or by appointment.

Requirements & Rules:

  • All dogs must be at least four (4) months old to attend the daycare and must have up-to-date vaccinations for DHP, Parvo, rabies, and Bordetella (kennel cough).
  • Any condition that could jeopardize the health or well-being of other dogs (ie: a communicable ailment) will require a veterinarian certificate of clean health prior to return to the daycare.
  • Although not mandatory, we recommend you maintain a flea/tick/lice preventative care program for dogs attending daycare.
  • Dog must NOT show signs of aggressive behavior toward other dogs or people. Dog owners must certify their pet(s) have not and do not exhibit such behavior.
  • Dogs entering and exiting the daycare must be on a leash and controlled by their owner or designate at all times.
  • Pet City Canada reserves the right to refuse enrollment and/or access to the facility to any dog, at any time, for any reason.

Enrollment

  • Complete Application – You can complete our online application or pick one up at our daycare located at 113 – 13th Street North in Lethbridge, Alberta.
  • Owner Release Forms – Medical Release Form and Pet Care Agreement form signed in person prior to the first visit.
  • Interview and Evaluation – Upon satisfactory completion of the required paperwork, a scheduled interview will be conducted with the pet and pet owner, at which time we will evaluate your dog’s ability to interact with other dogs in a safe and appropriate manner. The purpose is to assess your dog’s potential for aggressive behavior while determining the current level of social development to ensure that it is not aggressive and will be a fit in our daycare environment.

Pet Sitting

Benefits of Choosing A Professional Pet Sitter:

For the pet:

  • The pet remains in his or her familiar environment, where all the sights, smells, and sounds are familiar.
  • The pet follows his or her customary diet and exercise routine.
  • The pet is not traumatized by travel in a vehicle.
  • The pet is not exposed to potential illness from other animals.
  • Most importantly, the pet receives love and personal attention while you are away.

For the pet owner:

  • You are not inconvenienced (or traumatized) by having to transport the pet.
  • You do not have to impose on a friend, neighbour, or relative to pet sit for you.
  • Your home is looked after as well since our pet sitters provide crime deterrent services such as taking in the mail and turning on/off lights.
  • You can leave your home worry-free, knowing your pet is in good hands.
  • You can return home at any hour of the day and find your healthy, happy pet eagerly awaiting your return!

How Our Service Works

When you call Pet City Canada, we will arrange a visit to your home shortly before you leave to: Meet you and your pet(s); get detailed information about caring for them; pick up a key to your home.

During this visit, you decide how often you want your sitter to visit each day and what services you would like during your time away. Fees are based on the number and type of pets and the number of visits per day.

While you are away, we will: Feed and provide fresh water to your pet(s), body rub which includes a form of relaxation and allows us to check their health (lumps, bumps, swelling, ears, eyes, mouth, breathing, general well-being), administer medicine, vitamins, and other special care, get medical treatment in case of illness, provide playtime, exercise, and any other services requested, perform house checks and keep a daily diary of times visited, activities/services performed, and how your pet is doing!

Even if you are not leaving home, there may be instances where we can be of service: unusual working hours; busy schedules; lengthy illnesses may make it difficult to properly care for your pet. Please call to discuss how we may help.

Pet Sitting Reservation Deposit: All reservations will require a 50% deposit to secure the dates requested. Deposits must be paid at the time of booking and no less than 7 days in advance of the first scheduled visit. Deposits are non-refundable for canceled reservations as defined by our cancellation policy.

Professional Pet Care is a primary goal of Pet City Canada. A deposit is necessary to ensure the availability of a Pet Care Professional. The client will be charged for all visits booked. We adhere to a strict no overbooking policy, which means we may turn away other clients to ensure each pet receives the care they deserve and the pet sitter is available to deliver the service as requested by our client(s).

Pet Care Reservation Confirmation:  Pet City Canada will deliver a reservation confirmation via email to the client’s email address on file as soon as possible after the request is received. The client is responsible to confirm the dates for accuracy. The information contained in the confirmation is the dates we have scheduled care for your pet(s).

Pet Sitting Cancellation Policy: There are two important cancellation thresholds you need to be aware of:

  • If we receive notice less than 7 days prior to the date of your first visit you will be charged 50% of the total invoice for the scheduled pet care visits payable by the pet owner.
  • Further, if notice is less than 48 hours’ notice prior to the date of your first visit you will be charged 100% of the total invoice for the scheduled pet care visits payable by the pet owner.

Client Return and/or Requests for Additional Service: As noted on the confirmation email, clients are expected to confirm with Pet City Canada that they have returned home as planned. Please call, email, or text to advise of your arrival home; your pet’s care is our priority. We will attempt to contact you if we have not received notice of your return. If we are unable to contact you we will continue with pet care visits until confirmation of your safe return. This will result in additional charges beyond the scope of your original booking.

Scheduling of Pet Sitting Appointments: Although we will do our utmost to attend to pet care visits at the time(s) requested by the client, there are circumstances that may prevent us from attending at the precise times requested. Our goal is to attend to requested visits within a 30 minute timeframe (plus/minus) of the requested time. Be mindful that weather, traffic, or other circumstances may delay the pet sitter. The time of the visit(s) may vary from day to day.

Pet Sitter Contact and Communication: All bookings, changes, cancellations, notices and/or communication regarding your Pet Sitting booking must be communicated through our office. Please refrain from contacting our Pet Care Professionals directly at their personal phone numbers, their personal email addresses, or at their place of residence regarding Pet Care services. Pet City Canada does not hand out the personal contact information for our pet sitters and staff. If it is imperative that you speak to your Pet Care Provider, with your approval we will pass your phone contact information to them so they may call you.

Dog Walking

It may be the weather, a personal ailment, or any other of a multitude of reasons why you, as a dog owner, cannot fulfill this important need for your dog. For those who work, your pet need not be left at home feeling bored, lonely, and perhaps frightened. Dogs can get depressed, much the same way humans can. A bored dog may also become a misbehaving dog. Regular exercise and plenty of it stimulates their mind and helps to keep them physically fit.

If you are the owner of a single dog, he or she may benefit greatly from the interaction with another dog while on a walk.

Our dog walking service gets them out when you can’t always manage to do so yourself.

We offer 30 Minute, 45 Minute or 60 Minute walks.

Transportation

For our Daycare guests, the Doggie Cab is available to pick you up and drop you off so you’ll never have to miss out on a day of fun.

Available from 8am–10am for pick-up and 4pm-6pm for drop off.

One way or round trip.

24hr advance reservations are required.

We also provide pet transportation services for those occasions when, as a pet owner, you are unable to tend to the task yourself (ie: trips to the vet, pet supply delivery, etc) Call us, we can help.
